On March 12, 2020, I wrote the first chapter of Book 1 in the Thicker Than Water trilogy.
It was my son's 10th birthday, and I thought how strange and poignantly satisfying it was to stand on the precipice of a different kind of "birth."
Now, almost 2 years later, I'm proud to announce that Advanced Review Copies of the book will be available in early April 2022.
What's an Advanced Review Copy ("ARC"), you ask? Good question.
ARCs (sometimes referred to as “Advanced Reader Copy”) are a common practice in the publishing world to spark interest in new books by allowing readers early access and opportunities to review the work before it goes on sale to the general public.
Now, you may be wondering, "How does an ARC Reader differ from a Beta Reader?" Another excellent question, friends. Beta teams are a group of people who read the manuscript of a book while it is still in the drafting stages. They provide feedback and offer recommendations to the author aimed at improving the overall writing.
In contrast, ARC readers receive a copy of the finished product. Utilized by both Indie Authors and traditional publishers, ARC Teams can directly affect the reach their book launch has.
In getting people to read and review the book before it is available for sale, this allows other readers to see it, and add it to their To Be Read ("TBR") list. This, in turn, gives the book a head start on it's release date.
This early promotion of the book helps more readers discover it. If people are raving about it before it’s even released it’s got to be a book to check out right? (That's a yes, folks). For additional insight as to ARC Team Best Practices, kindly refer to this tutorial.
